By replacing the single stock air-box with individual patented Venturi filter housings, the turbos are able to spool and generate boost with less drag. As a result, the waste-gate duty cycles are reduced resulting in peak boost at lower RPM and therefore performance is increased. The two individual filters provide a larger filtration area as compared to the single stock panel filter. Furthermore, in order to keep inlet air temperatures down, the Venturi housings are sealed against an air duct which draws ambient air from the same location as the stock system. Since the 911 Turbo engine bay is densely packed, high IATs can only be avoided by ensuring a fully sealed intake system. The combination of a smoother airflow path to each turbo with low IATs results in higher performance and a sharper throttle response over the stock air-box.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe intake duct seals against the underside of the boot-lid using the stock rubber cushion and then extends down to seal against the filter housings. Crafted from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber the intake duct ensures that the intake pulls in ambient air only and not heated engine bay air. Again in order to maximize flow efficiency the transition from the circular openings for the filter housings to the single air entry point is as smooth as possible. The duct also features 2 drain tubes which direct water away from the filters. The tubes are designed such that the intakes will draw a minimum amount of air from within the engine bay due to the larger flow resistance in the tubes as compared to the opening at the top of the duct. The intercoolers feature cast end tanks that distribute the airflow over the full core in a very precise way. This is very important as a good tank design will be beneficial for both pressure drop and cooling efficiency. To be able to fit an intercooler with appropriate thickness for the job, it was also necessary to design a new upper ambient air guide. This was designed in our 3D-scanned environment to ensure perfect fitment to the vehicle-integrated air guides, as well as the intercooler. To further remove bottlenecks, the intercooler kit MERA has intercooler connections that are 70 mm (2 3\/4 inch) to really allow for the air to pass without restriction. This also means that there are new hoses included for each position, of which all are 3D-designed with maximum airflow in mind. All hoses are CFD-tested to ensure this. The hoses on the turbo outlet are made from a high-temp spec. material, rated to 240°C (464°F) continuous temperature. In order to really take advantage of all the heat-transferring ambient air, the carbon ducts come with proper seals towards the body, forcing all of the air to pass through the core, and not escape around it.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAll in all, the weight increase compared to the OEM units is relatively small considering the sheer size of the intercoolers, and the fact that it´s an all-aluminum, dense construction.
